What 25 years of Women, Work, and Community means to Maine

  • An organization responding locally to global events and changes, building community one woman, one family at a time.

  • Cutting edge programs and services that reflect women's changing role in the paid workforce.

  • A place where the individual is valued for who she is, where hope is nourished, where dreams can take root and come true.

  • An organization whose staff believe that women can and must contribute equally to Maine's economic prosperity.

Actions Building Upon Achievements!

  • Workforce Development training expanded to access postsecondary education and trade/technical careers in promising growth sectors.
  • Microenterprise training modified to target families receiving public assistance,
    rural entrepreneurs and new immigrants.
  • Financial Literacy training integrated into all program areas plus a strong Family Development Account program established in collaboration with Community Action Agencies.
  • Supporting women to become leaders in their communities by helping them find and use their voices to advocate for equitable policies that affect their lives.
