Entrepreneurship Training Opportunities
. . . for those wishing to start and expand a successful business
Starting and owning a small business can bring great rewards -- the satisfaction of realizing a dream, a growth in income, serving customers and a community, or building an important asset.
Whether one on one or in the classroom, Women, Work, and Community focuses on helping the individual business owner build skills, gain confidence, and develop networks that can turn a dream into reality.
Our free services include the following:
- The
Basics of Starting a Business. This introductory workshop covers the basics of the business plan, marketing, and the business financials. It is a three-session, nine-hour workshop offered in partnership with the Women's Business Center at Coastal Enterprises, Inc.
- New Ventures Entrepreneurship Training. Creating a solid business plan is the key to success. This intensive, ten-fourteen week training covers the step by step process of developing a business plan. This course is an approved training under the Unemployment Insurance Commission and graduates are eligible to apply for three academic credits from the University of Maine at Augusta.
- Steps to Economic Security. Designed for experienced business owners, this five-session workshop enables them to plan for growth and personal economic security. Individual and group follow-up is available.
- Self-employment Assistance for TANF One-on one business assistance is available to welfare recipients who are referred to WWC by the ASPIRE program. Business assessment and on-going coaching on a monthly basis guide individuals towards economic self-sufficiency and business success.
- Information and referral to other self-employment and business assistance services statewide.
WWC is part of a wide network of organizations and individuals committed to supporting entrepreneurship in Maine, particularly a
mong women and individuals with limited resources.
